A Preview of Things to Come

This rather pathetic attempt at a raised garden bed consists of a mixture of clay
from levelling the area between the single and double storeys of the house, and compost.
I've tested the ph of the soil and that's alright, but there's some deficiency because
anything I plant here really struggles. So I'm soon going to overhaul and expand this bed
and hope this becomes the 'before' to compare to a stunning 'after' photo
not too far down the track

Now this huge blank space along the fenceline used to house an enormous grevillea shiressii
which split in a storm about a year ago. One part of it died off immediately,
and the other half struggled on valiantly, but in the end it too gave up the ghost
and I pulled it out. There was already a bit of a gap where another very old grevillea had died
and anything I planted there just sat and did nothing (for three years now).
So a couple of new raised beds are going to give me a fresh chance to establish
some screening from the road - I shall then wait until Autumn to plant the new beds.

next - A Brand New Year
