The Pond in 2010
A Pond Full of Frogs
The pond has spent a happy year - full of tadpoles from the many
varieties of frogs that we hear each evening - and most days too.
Even hiding under the overhanging casuarinas,
it's still impossible to catch sight of even the noisiest frog.
It's so frustraging.
The frogs seem to occupy the pond in shifts, with the ones who lay eggs
on
the stems of the water plants disappearing to make way for
the pobblebonks - who produce frothy heaps of frog spawn all over the surface.
But it's not long before the next generation are happily zooming around
enjoying the cover protecting them from the occasional visits
by a passing heron.
