I just
don't seem to be able to capture the deep butter-yellow colour
of this phebalium squamulosum. I really love this little shrub as it carries
beautiful bronze buds
through most of the year, before gradually opening them this time of year.
It's hard to believe how quickly
these acacias cognata have grown.
Here's a photo taken of the same trees in February 2005.
I don't think this acacia is grown
for its floral display - I know I just love the weepy foliage.
I was surprised - and delighted - at the lovely soft fluffy flowers which
almost
covered the branches this year.
All the trees along the driveway
are the same, but the leaves on this one
are very much finer than any of the others.
This new section of the garden has
now been planted, so I'm keen to
see how quickly it can become established and inhabited by the birds.
