Even the
Kitchen Sink
21 September 2004

Jonni has been temporarily diverted from lining
walls
so that he can make the kitchen cupboard

Tim Kennedy, from Bowerbird Tree Salvage, had supplied us with a beautiful
slab of
blackwood timber for our kitchen benchtop. We are going to finish the surface
with Danish Oil.

We're leaving the natural edge as it is - 'not quite straight' seems to suit
the rest of the house!
We are fortunate to have friend Phil, a retired tiler, living just a few doors
up the road.
We managed to persuade him to come down and supervise the floor and wall tiling.
These lovely earthy ceramic floor tiles will be used throughout the ground
floor
of both sections of the house.
.
We tiled the shower walls before finishing the timber walls of the bathroom.
I was allowed to oil the first three boards before the tiles over the kitchen
bench were grouted in.
I just can't wait to do the rest of them - the messmate boards come up brilliantly.

Finally, the bench was given several coats of Danish Oi,l
the cupboard acquired its doors and knobs, the sink was fitted into the hole
and crowned with a set of taps
