The Pond in 2008
A New Water Source

Jonni constructed two dry creek beds to direct water to the pond.
On was from the steep roof on the north side of the house
and the second was from the main house water tank.
We had not expected to see it full to overflowing this side of autumn!

Just 60 ml of rain was all it took to fill our water tank and the previously rather depleted pond.
Jonni happily stood in the rain to make sure not a precious drop of water
escaped through the sides of the dry creek bed.

The level of the pond rises and falls with the rainfall - or lack thereof.
And that's how it should be.
The grasses will multiply and so will the delightful purplie loosestrife.

The long slow recovery has been well worth the wait.
